Compounding And Mixing

Compounding is to combine all the ingredients required to mix a batch of rubber compounds. Each component has a different mix of ingredients according to the properties required for that component. This is the first step to manufacturing a tyre.

Component Preparation

Components consist of three classes based on the manufacturing process: calendaring, extrusion, and bead building. This is the stage to prepare thoroughly to manufacture a tyre.

Tire Building

Tire building involves assembling all the components onto a drum. Tire-building machines can be manually operated or fully automatic. The first stage involves wrapping the inner liner, body plies, and sidewalls around the drum, placing the beads, and turning the assembly up over the bead. The belt package and tread are applied in the second stage, and the "Green tyre" is inflated and shaped.

Curing

Curing is applying pressure to the green tyre in a mould to give it its final shape and applying heat energy to stimulate the chemical reaction between the rubber and other materials. 

During this process, the green tyre is automatically transferred onto the lower mould bead seat, a rubber bladder is inserted into the green tyre, and the mould closes while the bladder inflates.

Final Finish

The tyre uniformity measurement is a test where the tyre is automatically mounted on wheelhalves, inflated, run against a simulated road surface, and measured for force variation. Tyre balance measurement is a test where the tyre is automatically placed on wheel halves,rotated at high speed and measured for imbalance. In the final step, tyres are inspected by human eyes for numerous visual defects such as incomplete mould fill, exposed cords,blisters and others.

Tire Testing

When designing tyres of the new specifications, it is necessary to carry out numerous tyre tests to ensure the tyre can meet the requirements.
